There’s one album that I turn to time and time again when I’m need of my arse going forward at great speed.
MSTRKRFT’s “Fist Of God” is a straight up banger from start to finish; anthemic electro-skeeze turned up to 53 and hurtled forward at the speed of sound. There are only a few albums that can keep up with it in terms of the effect it has on me, Justice‘s †, Girl Talk‘s “Night Ripper”, and the La Roux Vs Major Lazer mixtape from last year are all strong contenders, but “Fist Of God” wins out every time.
Their third album is just around the corner and this week they play SXSW, but out of the motherfucking blue they dropped this brand new tune, hopefully from the album. Not only is it about one of my favourite subjects, beards, but it’s down with this fat and sleazy 80′s Electro-Hair-Rock sound, bouncing low as it’s bouncing high.
