Eight damn months. That’s how long I’ve been waiting to post more new music from Radical Dads.
Back in the middle of September 2010 their guitarist Robbie got in touch and sent me their album. He just so happens to also be the guitarist in seminal NYC art-rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, which is slightly evident in “Mega Rama”, the Dads’ debut album. It’s been almost painful for me to have this album for eight months, listen to it on a very regular basis, not get tired of it, and patiently wait for the chance to post some more new music from them besides the one and only “Recklessness”.
Don’t get me wrong, “Recklessness” is a great song but when there are so many others on the album equally as great you get to the point where you just want to unleash them all. Their album is coming out on June 14th (via Uninhabitable Mansions and currently only on CD but hopefully vinyl soon) and so they’re playing a bunch of shows with various other awesome bands as well as releasing new tunes to amp up publicity for their album launch, the first of which is “New Age Dinosaur”. Short, sharp, and unhinged, it’s Indie-Garage-Grunge-Rock and its most tenacious.
I’m unsure if they’ve re-recorded any of the songs on the final release compared to the version they sent me last Summer, but the tracklist is the same so that’s reassuring. You can grab “New Age Dinosaur” below or from their Bandcamp page, that’s the album art above, their debut 7″ single was limited to an insanely low 100 copies but is still available (some how), and you need to jump on this before they get awarded album of the year and you’re left wondering why you went to that Brokencyde party instead of the Radical Dads party.
