The Feelies were one of the 80s most seminal rock bands. Their albums influenced groups from R.E.M. to Yo La Tengo to Weezer to a host of other well-known and celebrated groups. Hailing from Haledon, New Jersey, the band originally disbanded in 1992. While they reunited in 2008, there had been no new material since 1991′s, “Time For A For Witness” – until now.
The band recently announced that they will be releasing their 5th album, “Here Before”, April 12th on Bar/None Records. They have released one track off the new album, “Should Be Gone”.
“Should Be Gone”, proves that despite the fact that The Feelies have not released any new material in 19 years, they’ve still know how to rock. The tune is a 3 and a half minute slice of outstanding jangle-pop, complete with a hook that is sure to get stuck in your heard. If you’ve never heard The Feelies, this may not be the best starting point (that would be their 1980 debut album, “Crazy Rhythms”), however you if you are a Feelies fan, I can practically guarantee you will love this song.
The Feelies will be playing a few East Coast dates in May and June. Listen/download “Should Be Gone” below.
