[Listen/Download] – New Song By The Moth & The Mirror – “Lights In The Sky”

My good buddy Peenko from back home started his own record label earlier this year and one of the first releases on said label is a super-group of Scottish musicianship.

Containing members from Frightened Rabbit, Arab Strap, The Reindeer Section, Admiral Fallow, and Smoke Jaguar, the band and label are getting ready to drop their debut album in October via Peenko’s Olive Grove Records. As a lead single from an album of luminaries, it flits between the gorgeous and burning vocals of Stacey Sievwright against a pale and unsuspecting acoustic guitar, and the searing scrape of the blunt end of a wildly played axe.

Generally if you think of Scottish music it follows along the Indie, Folk sound so commonly heard over the years, but this track blows that already fading perception further out of the water, and based solely on the members of the band, I’ve got no idea what the album will sound like as a whole, but surprises are awesome!  You can grab the lead track below or over at their Bandcamp page, and head over to Peenko to hear another track called “Wondering Song”, and even more on their Facebook page.
