I remember these guys!
Vaguely. A few years ago I got their “Honeysuckle Weeks” album and I kinda liked it, there were some really great pop songs on there, but that was as far as my relationship with them went. Decent album, but not much of a repeater, destined for the bargain bin of your digital music library.
However when I saw Spin post about their new song it piqued my interest so I gave it a listen, and would you believe it’s really fucking good!? So bright and poppy and catchy, I’ve listened to it about 16 times already and more are sure to follow. Taken from their upcoming third album “Love Notes/Letter Bombs” dropping on April 5th, “Birds” is fantastic whilst the other track “The Sun Shines At Night” that you can hear over at Spin, is good, but not as immediately pressing as “Birds” is.
