[Listen/Download] – New Song By We Were Promised Jetpacks – “Act On Impulse”

My current job has one big thing going for it; They allow me to listen to my own music, all day, at volume.

This works in both good and bad ways.  It means I can listen to anything I want, whenever I want to which also mean no shitty radio stations with ads. But conversely it also opens me up to criticism, praise, and looks of just plain old “What the fuck are you listening to?”.  Just last night at work I was bumping We Were Promised Jetpacks‘ debut album in an effort to get me moving a little faster and as I came back to my iPod it was being scrutinised by a couple of co-workers who were poking fun at the name of the band.

I’m fine with my taste in music so I didn’t care, but I did start thinking that these guys need to release some new music soon, what with them announcing the album was done and some tour dates and album teasers etc, and what do you know?  This motherhubbard wakes up not 24 hours later with prayers answered.  There IS an Indie-Rock God, and he answers prayers!

Onywhoo, today the band announced the title, the release date, the artwork, and a new song all from said album. It’s called “In The Pit Of The Stomach” and is out in the U.K. on October 3rd/October 4th in the U.S., and lead single “Act On Impulse” is a slow-burning wood pile, much like some of the songs on the debut that would begin as next to nothing and build into a blaze of behemoth proportions.  You can grab the track below, and check out the tour dates too (they’re actually coming close to where I live for some reason, nobody ever does that).
