[Listen/Download] – New Song By Yuck – “Coconut Bible”

You may remember me gushing all over Yuck last year (and this year so far) about how much I’d fallen in love with them.  Welp, I gave their album a listen a guess what?  I don’t really like it. sadface

Admittedly though I’ve only listened to it a couple of times and neither were distraction free so for now I’ll reserve judgement completely, but I was disappointed by a few of the songs and as soon as this b-side to “Holing Out” started playing my first thought was “Mmmmm I could eat some chocolate covered coconut sweeties”.  My second thought was  ”But it’s 1am on a Saturday morning, nowhere nearby will have anything and you’ve already got your jammies on, just think of wheat thins”.

My third thought was “Why in the fuck was this song not on the album?”.  For seriouslies, this song is fucking awesome, from the guitar durge and far-off distorted vocals to the storytelling lyrics and catchy melody, this song delivers like a truck carrying rope stopping next to you as you sink in quicksand.  It’s the b-side to “Holing Out”, one of the tracks from the album that’s being released as a 7″ and today they gave this jam away for free.

this makes me sad, as i’ve pre-ordered the album and am really, really looking forward to it. hopefully i’ll have a different reaction!

I’ve been listening to it again today with a pair of headphones and nobody to distract me and it’s actually growing on me, quite quickly, so it’s not as bad as I first thought.

Although I am still disappointed that “Automatic” isn’t on there.

glad to hear that it’s growing on you. sometimes it takes several listens for an album to click, especially one you have high hopes for.

Yeah it took me 11 spins of Arcade Fire’s “The Suburbs” last year to really get into it.
