Hello, I’m back from Ride the Tempo to post some Canadian music you certainly must check out.
I’m pretty sure I posted about Holy Fuck in Box #5 but there’s just something about this song that keeps me coming back. I played it in a turntable.fm room before Canadians got blocked out of it and everyone wanted the song.
Dark Mean
This is one of my current new obsessions. Their name comes from a clever switch of letters from lead singer Mark Dean. They’ve recently released a full length self-titled album which you can stream over and Bandcamp. Here’s a track that really does have a happy fast-paced banjo line. It’s also accompanied by bells and horns and things.
Broken Bricks
What’s better than free music? Broken Bricks released their Little Fugitives EP on their Bandcamp for free. I’m completely in love with I Met A Robot even though it’s a little different from the more rock edge of the rest of the set. It’s an adorable sing-a-longable track.
Broken Bricks- “I Met A Robot”
On Listen Before You Buy there has been some presence of Megan James project Purity Ring but only in passing. The project was started by Colin James of the band GOBBLE GOBBLE along with Megan James. I’m not the biggest fan of “chillwave” but I love this experimental electronic take.
