[Listen/Download] – Reading Rainbow

I thought I had stumbled upon an excellent new band last week when I heard Reading Rainbow’s “Wasting Time”, but unbeknownst to me they’ve been around for a year or two now.

Their debut album “Mystical Participation” made it onto Weekly Tape Deck’s best albums of last year and they also released a couple of 7″s, but nothing as of late.  Well that was until the Philadelphian duo dropped the lead track from their upcoming second album “Prism Eyes”, due out on November 23rd via Hozac.  Their sound is a Mr. Bojangly affair that’s rained down from on-high by an onslaught of fast-paced, jagged distortion, akin to a more frenetic Beach Fossils, and vocalised from about a mile away from the mic and recorded inside an erupting volcano.

The first track form their second album (“Wasting Time”, which you can hear below), is more polished and refined than the songs on their previous album, and only having been a recent fan, it’s definitely a welcome change.
