[Listen/Download] – The Suzan – “Take It Or Leave It” (The Strokes Cover)

Back in August I posted about the insanely upbeat and wildly exciting new Japanese all-girl band The Suzan, who, even though they only had less than a handful of songs that we could hear without having to see them live, were making some fairly large waves around the music world.

In my post I had their song “Home”, the only one I could find that was legally postable (and I spent a good hour looking through months of posts in Japanese on their website) but now we’re starting to hear a bit more than the three songs on their MySpace page, and even though it’s a cover, it’s still a damn fine one at that, completely reworking the original into something that barely resembles the New-Wave/Post-Punk original.

The best part might just be when they sing the chorus.  It’s either intentional or plays right into the Asian stereotype of them being incapable of saying “L” or “R” in English properly, so when they sing the chorus it goes something like “I said just take it, or reave it, just take it, or reave it”.  I couldn’t help but giggle and think of Team America: World Police where Kim Jung Il sings his “I’m So Ronery” song.

Anyway, it’s below and their debut album “Golden Week For The Poco Poco Beat” that’s produced by Bjorn from Peter Bjorn and John drops on October 26th.
