A couple of days ago, 21 year-old Londoner James Blake performed three new songs from his upcoming self-titled album, set for release in February.
The album itself actually leaked last week and made its way around the internet with pretty much everyone loving it, including myself. I’ve probably listened to it about 15 times in the last few days, it’s a masterful piece of work. If it’d been released in 2010 it would be in my top 5 of the year, no doubt about it.
The songs below were performed as part of BBC Radio 1′s Festive Festival at Maida Vale studios and are slight reworkings of the studio versions found on the album, but if you haven’t heard the full album yet then these are three of the best from it, but with an album as strong as this it’s difficult to find a “best”. On the album the “Lindesfarne” song below is actually split up into two songs, but here he plays them as one. Oh, and it also includes the insatiably wonderful cover of Feist’s “Limit To Your love”.
As of February 4th, you can hear the entire debut album by James Blake here.
