One of the blogs I frequent and trust with new music is Knox Road. There are a few people who, when posting new music, I’ll always listen to because I trust their taste, and Knox Road is one of them. Last week they posted about I Am The Dot and before I got the chance to get in contact with the artist, the artist had got in touch with me. Making my life easier is always appreciated, although I still refuse to use those drive-through banks, that shit’s taking it too far.
Anyway, the guy behind I Am The Dot is Zach Tipton, a young whipper-snapper from Denver/Atlanta who’s released a few EPs that you can get from his Bandcamp page. He’s mixed things up a bit between EPs, his last one “Minimal Love” was on the more experimental side of Pop, chucking in some Soul along the way. People get turned off when they read that something is experimental, they think it’s just some guy hitting things around his house and recording the noises they make, but it’s not (always) the case.
I’m not sure just how many people helped out on recording his EPs but it sounds like a bunch of them, with layers of backing vocals and harmonies it’s hard to imagine just one guy doing all of this. If you wanna find out for yourself just how good it is, get to playin’ the songs below. There are two of his EPs, his latest one “The Royal Few” as well as the one before that “Minimal Love”, and also his latest video for “The Crown”.
