“Stridulum” begins with a methodical marching beat as one could imagine the pounding of soldiers’ boots ominously stomping in the distance, as the lightly coated yet stern vocals signal the end of the “Night.” The pace deepens and then skips to a light run while the laser-esque synths and caws of scavenging fowl abound.
As the EP progresses we hear air raid sirens alarming us of the next movement in “Trust Me.” In “I Can’t Stand” we are swallowed by the harrowing hollowed echo of strings, casting a very bittersweet mood to the sound landscape. With each step, we become apprised of the highlighted pitied and empathy existing between struggling lovers.
Throughout the project, the rudimentary percussion balances the arrangements that truly bring this EP to life. At times, this listener felt engulfed by a black hole as a siren cries from its abyss. This sound is expansive, causing the listener to drift through space, perhaps, with no return.
