Released after “Toys in the Attic”, ”Rocks” was Aerosmith’s fourth album on May 3rd, 1976. It has been quoted to have had a strong influence on hard rock and heavy metal bands such as Guns and Roses and Metallica.
After “Toys in the Attic” showed the world that Aerosmith was more than just a band trying to imitate The Rolling Stones, the band flex its muscles on the boastfully named “Rocks”, a buffalo stampede of rave-ups and boogies. During a couple of recording sessions, Tom Hamilton and Joe Perry switched instruments and it illustrated some pure enjoyment in playing rock music. There’s really no weak spots on the album. It is so full of pure-rock energy.
