“Vitalogy” was the third studio album from Pearl Jam. It was written during the “Vs.“ tour and was much more aggressive and experimental than their older works. The original copies were packaged to look like a medical book from 1920, with the album first released on vinyl. Their first single from the album was “Spin The Black Circle” which incidentally netted the band their first and only Grammy award, surprising considering how many huge songs they’ve had before and after.
Originally the album was meant to be titled “Life” but then they changed their minds and made it “Vitalogy” which of course means the study of life. The album was quite diverse, a little bit too uneven at times, but hey maybe that’s life.
