K.Flay has done it again. She’s managed to take a great track, Kreayshawn’s “Gucci Gucci,” and make it even better – sick, swag and ridiculous.
What I love about K.Flay’s style is that she isn’t flashy nor over-the-top, but her tracks are strong and come loaded with heavy beats that dance around. I can just picture you – listening to the track, leaning back in your chair, head nodding, shoulders bobbing up and down – you think you’re badass, huh?
K.Flay or Kristine Flaherty (as she’s known to her parents) always stays true to the original track, while adding her own swag into the mix. Originally from Illinois, she started mixing and remixing songs in her dorm room at Stanford, while also earning dual degrees in sociology and psychology. Here she remixes “Gucci Gucci” by Kreayshawn, a white girl rapper sensation in her own right, at the mere age of 21 – think Ke$ha meets Amy Winehouse, but good! K.Flay is a one-woman show, speeding up the track, adding a rap loop, and laying down the dubstep techno beat in the back.
Never taking herself or her music too seriously, below you can also check out her video that she put together to go with the song. She, apparently, got a hankering for “ketchup and a remix.” I’m not sure about the burger – never been to “In and Out” – but I’m digging the remix.
