Probably to the dismay of LBYB’s fearless leader, Frank, I know very little about Scotland. I know it’s part of the UK, the accents are weird (sometimes sexy), they like soccer (yawn), and something about a Loch Ness monster. But who cares about all that because aside from the fact that it’s apparently also windy, they also have some great bands. Frightened Rabbit, originally from Selkirk (no clue where that is) but now based in Glasgow (I think I’ve heard of that), has released a new singled called “Scottish Wind”.
The track’s sound is a compliment to Frightened Rabbit’s last album, and while it’s not a huge deviation from what we’re used to hearing, the lyrics are what captivated me. They are romantic and genuine:
“Bring a whisper to my mouth soft Scottish winds,
Just enough to say I love you to the girl that keeps me sane,
And take the stupid things I’ve said and blow them miles and miles away,
Thank you in advance Scottish wind.”
They first premiered “Scottish Wind” at the Rockness Festival (self-described as “A Monster of a festival in the beautiful surroundings of Loch Ness, Scotland – love it!). Watch the performance below.
