Neko Case debuted a new song, “Calling Cards” in Charlottesville, VA. I’ve always been in love with Neko Case’s voice, and since her last album “Middle Cyclone,” we haven’t hear that much in new material. I’m pleased to hear “Calling Cards” is classic Neko, and honestly, Neko is the only one that can sing “Blah, blah, blah” and make it sound soulful, earnest and honest.
For Neko, less is always more, way more. The gentle cadence, so simple and soft, speaks volumes as her her vocals and lyrics engulf you. The message is apparently for her bandmates in various corners of the world, but I’m sure everyone can relate to the lyrics.
