Seeing as how The Pass is originally from Louisville, KY, it seemed only natural that they’d play at the Kentucky Derby this past weekend. There, they debuted a new track, which has a harder rock and roll edge than their previous stuff. The guitar trill effect in the beginning, I assume and hope, will turn into an electronic beat when it hits the studio, but I like the effect nonetheless. However, I’ll be the first to admit it…it sounds similar to another Southern band, Kings of Leon, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Kyle Peters belts out the chorus adding a more rugged sound to the new catchy tune.
We first heard from The Pass when they blew people away with their electronic pop, Psychedelic rock style album, “Burst”. Listening to “Burst” followed by this new track, shows how the band is evolving, but I hope they keep true to their electronic, new wave genre.
