[Listen/Watch] – Trent Reznor And Karen O – “Immigrant Song” (Led Zeppelin Cover)

So, David Fincher, the first trailer for your last movie The Social Network featured a cover of Radiohead‘s “Creep” by Belgian girls’ choir Scala and Kolacny Brothers. The popularity of that inspired scoring choice broke the choir in the states and led to their first North American performance at SXSW this year and a slot at Coachella – how could Fincher possibly one-up himself after that one?

Believe it or not, he’s done exactly that with the first trailer for the upcoming remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Aside from the editing of the trailer, which is dynamic and breathtaking but basically looks like exactly what you’d expect from an American remake of this story, the soundtrack knocks it out of the park featuring a Trent Reznor and Karen O cover of Led Zeppelin‘s “Immigrant Song” that obliterates any actual diegetic sound and provides the frenetic and downright scary pace of the entire thing.

Even though it’s just a teaser, and a bootleg at that, this is just over 90 seconds to which the only legitimate response is: “Holy shit.” People pointed to the rowing sequence in Social Network with Reznor’s remix of “In The Hall of The Mountain King” as one of the reasons he won an Academy Award for his soundtrack work with Atticus Ross, and if this is any indication of the pair’s work on Fincher’s upcoming film, Reznor and Ross may have just proven themselves a force to be reckoned with in film scores for years to come.

After a Red Band bootleg was up on YouTube for most of the weekend, now we’ve got a much higher quality version of the US Green Band trailer up online. Take a look.
