Watch and listen to The Beach Boys‘ re-recording of their classic song “Do It Again” for the upcoming 50th Anniversary Reunion tour and album.
We already knew The Beach Boys were working on a new album and had already heard a snippet of the newly recorded version of “Do It Again”, and as of a few days ago we’ve got the whole thing. Despite being an official video the sound quality isn’t great, which makes it a bit harder to enjoy, but the excitement knowing the Boys are back (their Grammys performance was a bit rocky) is great news.
Ignoring the obvious use of pitch correction (forgivable because they’re old), their voices still sound great, meshing as they did all those years ago. The song itself doesn’t really add anything much to the original, though the arrangement is a little different, but nonetheless is a promising sign of things to come. The real winner is the visual aspect, which features the original members of the band recording the song mixed with footage of California. The band’s interaction shows a great dynamic, and, as someone in the comments points out, Mike Love hammer massaging Brian Wilson‘s back (2:26 mark) is pretty awesome.
Watch the video for “Do It Again” below, and tell us how excited you are in the comments that one of the greatest bands of all time is back.
