The Burning of Rome‘s new single is insanely brilliant – it captures the concepts of such a great film like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and shaping a intensely catchy song behind the already interesting video. The song is obviously based on Norman Bates, the film’s antagonist and most infamous character. People will remember the film for him or the shower scene.
But, beyond the greatness of one of the best thrillers ever, this song does some of the movie some justice. No, it’s not as brilliant, and the band knows it can’t match Hitchcock. The band does manage to craft a gypsy punk indie song with a melody to dance to eternally. The vocals are just spell-binding in their dichotomy of low and high, between different characters – or maybe Norman himself? Driving along is the intense bass keyboards that boom and echo over the insanity. Watch the brilliant video below. Their new album, …With Us is out now.
