The Postal Service seems to be enjoying the victory lap they’ve allowed themselves with the 10th anniversary reissue of their almost-classic album Give Up. Not only have they been put in the spotlight again after all these years, but they’re giving themselves a chance to do some of the things that were just impossible ten years ago. They’ve already played a headlining set at Coachella, but they’ve got dates all throughout the year, including another headlining spot at Chicago’s Lollapalooza in August.
Another thing they’ve finally been able to do is make their TV debut. Last night, the band – consisting of Benjamin Gibbard, Jimmy Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis (with Laura Burhenn of The Mynabirds helping out live) – stopped by The Colbert Report to have an interview and perform “Such Great Heights” and new song “A Tattered Line of String”, for which a video was recently released. Highlights of the whole thing include Lewis’ bright blue tracksuit in the interview and Gibbard’s awkward dancing as he sings. The reaction when Colbert asked them about a possible second album is also priceless.
