Zane Lowe must have a pretty good life, huh?
I remember watching him on MTV2 when I lived back in Scotland in the late 90′s and early 2000′s. He was the only guy that I knew of who had an unbridled and unmatched passion for music with impeccable taste, and he knew exactly what he was talking. He was cool, he was funny, and he was down to earth. And from New Zealand. And I also don’t think he’s ever shaved.
Now he has a huge radio show, gets all sorts of massive exclusive first plays, still hosts on MTV2, gets to travel the world DJ’ing, going to shows, interviewing some of the biggest and best artists on the planet, and he probably has an insanely hot wife/girlfriend/fleshlight too. If there’s a modern-day voice of Radio, or if there’s anyone on the planet who could keep radio alive, it’s Zane Lowe.
He also gets to do shit like this; Recording a great new band doing an excellent live and acoustic rendition of one of their best songs. Grouplove: “Colours”. I will take some solace in the fact that he’s no videographer (could’a done with cleaning the lens first (felt like I had an eyelash in my eye the whole time) and some distant shots, Zane!), so he can’t do everything, but this shows the potential and the power that Grouplove have. When they put this much effort and energy into an acoustic version on a cold and windy rooftop, you know for a fact that their live shows are off the hook.
LOVING the funky wizard (his real name) on bass. Did you see his laser-beams-for-guitar-strings?
