When it comes to Animal Collective and their various members’ solo/side projects, people expect some great things from both.
It doesn’t always happen (Avey Tare‘s debut was piss-poor) and then sometimes it does (Panda Bear‘s “Person Pitch” was one of the best album of the last decade), and from what I’ve heard of Panda Bear’s latest offerings, it seems like it’s going to fall somewhere in between. Meh.
A couple of the songs were good, one was alright, another was decent, and this new one that appears as part of Skating documentary is also decent but nothing out of this world. It’s definitely not something that equals the caliber of any song from “Person Pitch”, but maybe I’m expecting or hoping for too much. Anyway, watch it below and see if you’re off the same mindset as I am. Oh, and it is a skateboarding video so there are a fair few spills and I have a thing about seeing people fall so I turned away for a few of them (’cause I’m a pussy like that).
The song is expected to be on his upcoming album “Tomboy” due out on April 19th via Paw Tracks.
