[Watch/Listen] – New Song And Video By Black Lips – “Go Out And Get It”

If this new video by Black Lips doesn’t get you craving the warm sun of summer, scantily-clad ladies (or dudes), and ice-cold beverages then you might as well just go into hibernation for the next seven months and enjoy the cold of your hidey-hole.

Even though the video’s a little reminiscent of Wavves’ latest visual atrocity for “King Of Beach”, the song fucking delivers like one of those small packages that’s more impressive once opened (the groupies of LBYB know what I’m talking about).  Whilst the band are usually known for hitting rock on the more sloppy and psychedelic side of town, “Go Out And Get It” is a “softer” and cohesive jam, but the video pisses me off.

Beautifully shot, it shows the band pissing around on a beach (want!), rocking out on the Titanic (want!), and hanging around with said scantily-clad ladies (want!), but at the end they also chuck a fucking Rickenbacker bass guitar into the ocean, like Pete Townshend throwing his Gibson SG into the darkness at Woodstock.  Sacrificing instruments for the sake of art I’m cool with, but just blatantly destroying them for no reason is a no-no.  You hear that Black Lips?  No! Bad!

The song is from their upcoming album “Arabia Mountain” and is produced by Mark Ronson no less, due out in June 2011.
