If you haven’t heard already, I’d like to point your attention to the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, which will take over Williamsburg, Brooklyn the second weekend of November. If a low-key event full of big-gun electronic musicians is as much your jam as it is mine, this is the spot.
In its fifth year, the initial festival lineup continues to impress with the likes of LB4YB faves Nicolas Jaar (!!) and Gold Panda, as well as soul-grinders Onra, Will Wiesenfeld’s Baths, UK tastemaker Benji B, Numbers’ Jackmaster, electro-noise heads Hiawatha, DJ Nick Hook and drum and bass pioneer Rupert Parkes aka Photek.
BEMF is cheap, local and multimedia friendly. But the best part is it will take place in half a dozen small clubs like Glasslands, Music Hall of Williamsburg and Cameo Gallery, all within a few blocks of each another, turning Williamsburg into a sort of EDM boardgame.
