Back at the start of 2010 The xx spoke about how they’d like to work with R&B soul-sister Rihanna, either on a recording or performing live with her like she did with Klaxons at The Brit Awards in 2008.
Post-Dubstep points out that according to ASCAP and the Wikipedia page for Rihanna‘s upcoming album “Talk That Talk”, The xx had their wish come true with a collaboration on her album track “Drunk On Love”. One thing to point is that it lists departed member Qureshi Baria as one of the writers on the song, meaning that more than likely Rihanna‘s just sampling one of the songs from their debut album. Earlier today a new song by Drake called “Take Care” dropped that featured Rihanna and was produced by Jamie xx. How’s that for a small world?
Rihanna’s “Talk That Talk” drops on November 18th via Def Jam, so we don’t have much longer until we find out. Below you can watch her performance of “Umbuhrelluh” with Klaxons.
