Achieving musical alchemy, Morning Teleportation successfully combine more genres than I can count, creating fabulous journeys of song. They have taken the rulebook of song writing and thrown it out the window. They’re doing things their way.

TweetShare Spank Rock is not an artist known for restraint. Since his 2006 masterwork “Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo”, Rock, real name Naeem Juwan, has mixed sociopolitical metaphors with aggressive sexual come-ons, Bmore booty-shaking, and XXXchange’s speaker-destroying production. On his newest album, the immaculately titled “Everything Is Boring And Everybody Is A Fucking Liar”, [...]

TweetShare Trying to follow up an album like Justice‘s debut “† (Cross)” is a huge feat, something even Justice would have difficulty doing. Apparently that seems to be the case because the two or three tracks that we’ve heard from the follow-up second album have been nowhere near as good as some of the tracks [...]

TweetShare Not sure if it’s because they’ve “gone major” by signing with Astralwerks or not, but the sound of this new EP is leagues away from the DIY erratic sound of their debut EP “Sun Bronzed Greek Gods”. DOM were more than likely given a chunk of cash that wasn’t at their disposal when recording [...]

TweetShareThere are a lot of sites that do this but rather than handpick the tracks that I think were the best/you might like the best, I’m just giving you all of it. There were tracks featured on the site that aren’t in this compilation and that’s because they were posted in a fashion where the [...]

TweetShare This post is a “QuickPick”. QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that’s sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it’s so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I “star” it in [...]

TweetShare Au Revoir Simone songstress Erika Spring has ventured onto her own with a new single, “6 More Weeks”– to be released as part of a split 7″ with The Violens. The song itself doesn’t shy away from the AVS aesthetic: the lyrics are heavy but the delivery is not. If fact, Spring’s song pace [...]

TweetShare Chris Taylor, best known as producer and vocalist of acclaimed band Grizzly Bear, has brought to light his own solo project under the name CANT. This breathy, multi-instrumental layer cake of a track is a sample of what his upcoming album, “Dreams Come True”. Another major point in excitement: Twin Shadow‘s George Lewis Jr., [...]

TweetShare Dovecote Records‘ Summer ’11 Sampler had a few surprises for us, including the Purity Ring rework of Hard Mix‘s “Memories”. While the original was good on its own, the rework further collages the already nostalgic track into a faster-paced, synth-poppy tribute. The Hard Mix discography has been free for some time now– so if [...]

TweetShare Buy the album from Amazon – Vinyl / MP3 / CD One of the fundamental goals of running a music blog is to introduce people to new music. The primary method of doing this is to highlight new releases, either via up and coming bands that show potential or tried-and-true musical mainstays that generally [...]

TweetShare That’s not actually M.I.A., it’s just a picture I found when searching for her and thought that this one was better than the one I was going to go with. In the wake of the death of Amy Winehouse at the age of 27 yesterday, it’s sparked yet more discussion on just what the [...]

TweetShare Metronomy‘s “The English Rivera” has caught the attention of many admirers and its nomination for the Mercury Prize should be sufficient evidence that all remixes should be up to its caliber. Clock Opera has undertaken that task and come out with a sophisticated interpretation of “The Bay” and the remix doesn’t stray far from [...]
