[Watch] – New Video by The Coral – “1000 Years”

I recently sold a bunch of my CDs as I don’t use them anymore.  If I’m buying music it’s on vinyl or I’m downloading it and when I took them to the record shop 10 miles away the owner turned out to be from the U.K. too, the only other person I’ve met from the U.K. since I moved here seven years ago.

We got talking about music, mainly the bands that were on the CDs of mine he was going through and when he came to The Coral’s debut album he said “One of best and most underrated bands around.  Nobody knows about them over here, it’s a shame.” It’s true, I’ve only met one other person besides myself who knows about them.  But they do have a following over here, albeit a relatively small one.  About a month ago I posted about their new song “Butterfly House” and yesterday they uploaded the video for “1000 Years” to their YouTube page.

Check them both out below.  The album “Butterfly House” is due out on July 12th.

[Watch] – New Foals Video – “Miami”

On Tuesday NME got their hands on the first ever airing of the new Foals video for “Miami”.  On Tuesday we had Male Bonding’s male bonding with guys frolicking and getting their tongues on, and today we have frolicking trannies (the gender kind) in “Miami”.

“Miami” is taken from their just-released second album “Total Life Forever” and is out on July 4th.

[Listen/Download] – Brand New Song By The Coral – Butterfly House

Taken from their upcoming sixth album “Butterfly House”, The Coral just released a free download of the title track by signing up for their mailing list.  It’s pretty standard The Coral with some Beatles harmonies and layers, but with three years since their last album it’s most very welcome.

This won’t be a single as they plan on releasing “1000 Years” as a prelude to the album, but it’s still great to hear some new music from the Liverpudlians.

“Butterfly House” (the album) is released on July 12th.

[Listen] [New Artist] – Summer Camp – [Electronic/Indie/Retro]

Summer Camp aren’t new.  Well…..that actually depends on your definition of new.  They don’t have an album yet.  Their label doesn’t even have them listed on their site yet (they do, but the page returns an error).  They have a single but you can’t buy it anywhere because it’s not released until April 12th. But, they’ve been doing the rounds for a good six months now, being featured on GvsB’s top tracks of 2009 and featured in Transparent Blog, The Guardian, and NME.

That’s pretty impressive for a band without a single, album, or a listing on their label’s site, but they do have six songs that you can hear on their MySpace page.  Above I listed them as “Retro”, but I’m not even sure you can use that as a genre, so I’ll just say their sound is a hearkening back to 80’s synth-pop, tinged with sweet, luscious, airy vocals over deep bass lines and snarey (new word) drums.  Even the chorus in “Round The Moon” sounds like Aha’s “Take On Me”.  How’s that for hearkening?

Summer Camp are a guy and gal from London, the guy being Jeremy Warmsley (who’s released two solo albums under his own name on Transgressive) and Elizabeth Sankey, who’s an editor for Platform Magazine.  They release “Ghost Train” on April 12th, but you can grab it from a few places already, as well as “I Only Have Eyes For You”.  If you’re in London you can see them do their first live gig at The Lexington on April 8th at 8pm.

Below are “Ghost Train” and “I Only Have Eyes For You”, as well as the video for “Ghost Train” featuring parts of a 1969 movie called “Last Summer”.  The video fits the music perfectly.

[Watch] – New Video by Foals – “This Orient”

With their second album “Total Life Forever” due out in the middle of May, Foals have already released “Spanish Sahara” as a free download and now a new video for “This Orient” which features on the upcoming album.

I loved “Spanish Sahara”, especially the last two minutes of it, and these two songs together give a decent example of what the new album will sound like, and so far my hopes are high.

Embedding isn’t available at the moment, but you can check it out over at NME.
