[Discover/Listen/Download] – Manhattan – [Indie/Rock]
These guys from Dublin, Ireland have only been around for a few months at most and even though you can tell it’s still early days by the recording quality of a couple of the songs, one thing you can also tell is that they have something. There’s something there.
I can’t quite put my finger on it just yet, maybe it’s the fret-wank guitar solos, or Robbie McCarthy’s voice-breaking vocals, or the Friendly Fire’s kinda groove they’ve got going on. Maybe it’s all of the above, who knows, but their cover of The Knife’s “We Share Our Mother’s Health” caught me completely off guard, especially after having listened to their three other songs which don’t sound similar, with “Shame” reminding me of early Oasis demos like “Fade Away” and “Listen Up”, raw and unbridled.
You be the judge, and keep in mind that these songs are still demos, but impressive demos nonetheless.
