[Introducing] – We Are Standard
We Are Standard really aren’t that revolutionary as far as their style or sound, but they don’t need to be. Instead, they’re content with making perfect summer tunes for the dreary winter months.

We Are Standard really aren’t that revolutionary as far as their style or sound, but they don’t need to be. Instead, they’re content with making perfect summer tunes for the dreary winter months.

We Are Pirates couple a dreamy, retro synth sound with an up-to-the-minute youthful attitude that’s totally infectious.

Premiering here first, Felix And Volcano!’s new single “Son Of Sam” puts Sydney Bilodeau’s vocals at the forefront, while retaining the nuanced synth-pop sound I fell in love with when I first heard the group.

If all of Dozens’ tracks follow the same path as “Forget Me”, their debut album could be killer.

Lemolo’s music is anything but wild and untamed, a gentle brand of synth-pop that shimmers with sincerity.

TweetShare We’ve given Gardens & Villa some love on this site before, but somehow never got around to reviewing them. They’ve done their hard work, finishing their self-titled album and facilitating some more pure listening enjoyment, so now we’ll do ours. These fellows from Santa Barbara, California, have recorded a kind of sonic house party [...]

TweetShare One of the great things about Chicago’s Dozens (other than the fact that they’re from Chicago) is their ability to surprise. And on the band’s latest 7” single, “Sounds Of Your Lovers”, Dozens show that they’re damn good at it. In less than ten minutes the trio go from assorted beeps and bloops to [...]

TweetShare When I contacted Canopies about featuring them on this site I asked them for what they might consider some of their influences; they divided these into two groups: musical and non-musical. The former showed a musically well-versed and (culturally) diverse band with the likes of Brian Eno, the Davids (Bowie and Byrne), Yellow Magic [...]

TweetShare Sam Ueda’s synth pop brainchild Felix And Volcano! returns more than a year after releasing their fantastic first “Grow Rich EP”. The first single “Got Luv Fer Now” is what Ueda says is the beginning of more music, with Ms. Sydney M. Bilodeau rejoining the band and the possibility of a longer length release (cross [...]

TweetShare This one’s a quickie but a goody. Ronika is a singer, producer and remixer from Nottingham, England, who records from her bedroom. No crummy, lo-fi production values here though: her sound is as crisp as her look is fabulous, best demonstrated by “Forget Yourself”, an 80s synth-pop throwback with a satisfying funk vibe. Each [...]

TweetShare Starting this site at the start of 2010 I ended up finding a hell of a lot of new music that I was completely unaware even existed. When someone told me there was a genre called Psychedelic Glitch-Hop I thought they were joking. Another thing that happened was that I discovered older music by [...]

TweetShare This post is a “QuickPick”. QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that’s sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it’s so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I “star” it in [...]

TweetShare One sure-fire way to get people listening to your music these days is an innovative Twitter/Facebook campaign. I’ve seen quite a few, some are cool as shit and some are just atrocious and badly thought-out. The Teenagers’ is definitely one of the better ones; Tweet that their new song is available for free download, [...]
