Listening to Alta Mira is a true what-you-hear-is-what-you-get experience. There’s no studio trickery, no inorganic sounds, nothing excessively flashy. What there is is straight up indie pop/rock, and of a very high caliber.
“Port of Morrow” isn’t perfect, but its continuation of the growth demonstrated on “Wincing The Night Away”, combined with sounds familiar to fans of earlier Shins albums, make for a welcome listen, especially since it seemed for a time that The Shins might be done.
