“Violaceae” sees Nedry making all the right moves: they’ve kept all the influences that made them so distinctive in the first place, but the overall sound has mellowed and melded; they’ve kept the giant bass, but ditched the now-hackneyed dubstep wobble. Most of all, they’ve started putting their prodigious talents of sound design towards some good old-fashioned song-writing.
The second part of some anticipated albums for this coming year includes News Of The Fire, Nick Waterhouse, Passion Pit, Phoenix, POLIÇA, Sharon Van Etten, The Shins, Sleigh Bells, South Of France, Twin Shadow, Vampire Weekend, Woodkid and The xx!
Listen to Rihanna‘s new album “Talk That Talk” below. Only a few hours after her song “Drunk On Love” which samples The xx dropped, we can now listen to her entire new album “Talk That Talk”. If you’re a fan of Rihanna‘s then you’ll love this album, but if you’re not already a fan this [...]
Listen to Rihanna‘s new song “Drunk On Love” below, taken from her album “Talk That Talk”. We’ve only been talking about it for a week or two now, but it’s finally here. Rihanna‘s new jam “Drunk On Love” which samples The xx‘s song “Intro” is easily the best song of hers that I’ve heard from [...]
Listen to “You Da One” by Rihanna below, from her album “Talk That Talk”. We’re now only a week or so from the release of Rihanna’s new album “Talk That Talk” and in anticipation for the release there are a whole host of interviews, reviews, song-snippets and album leaks doing the rounds. A few days [...]
Back at the start of 2010 The xx spoke about how they’d like to work with R&B soul-sister Rihanna, either on a recording or performing live with her like she did with Klaxons at The Brit Awards in 2008. Post-Dubstep points out that according to ASCAP and the Wikipedia page for Rihanna‘s upcoming album “Talk That [...]
Listen to Drake‘s new song “Take Care” below, produced by Jamie xx and featuring Rihanna. Tonight we were given not one, not two, not three, but two new songs by Drake, both featuring artists I enjoy a whole lot more than I enjoy Drake. On the track “Crew Love” we’re given the smooth vocal stylings [...]
Listen to The Antlers‘s cover of The xx‘s song “VCR” below. During the week it was announced that The Antlers will be releasing “(together)”, a new EP on November 22nd that will host collaborations with Neon Indian, Nicole Atkins, and Bear In Heaven, along with outtakes of songs from their indispensable new album “Burst Apart”. Also making an appearance [...]
Wait? Didn’t Listen Before You Buy already put up a Notorious B.I.G. mashup? This may be your first thought when hearing this song. The answer is yes but that one was Wait What‘s mashup of The XX and the poppa (and yes it was awesome). In the last month I’ve downloaded seventeen M83 “Midnight City” [...]
Digits is the musical alter-ego of Toronto-based Alt Altman. Eagle-eyed readers will note that we recently featured Mr Altman in his capacity as one half of dreamy R&B duo Bad Passion, whose first EP should be arriving shortly. Listening to his solo output, it’s clear how much of an influence he’s had on their sound. Alt’s [...]
We first featured Contrakids back in April, and in the couple of months since I’ve been watching closely for any new material. I needn’t have bothered, as they took the trouble to sling us a copy of new track “I Needed You” directly. I’m delighted to say it’s cut from the same lustrous cloth as the [...]
This post is a “QuickPick”. QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that’s sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it’s so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I “star” it in Gmail [...]
