Frankly I’m shocked and appalled that it’s taken three movies for Vampire Weekend to appear on the soundtrack for what’s arguably the greatest and most important movie franchise in human history (Twilight). I mean they have the word “Vampire” in their name for fridge-magnet’s sake.
Anyway, the song below, “Jonathan Low”, is on the upcoming soundtrack for the new Twilight movie, although there’s no word yet on whether it’ll be in the movie itself….I think it will be though, at that point where there’s a vampire, or another person, and they’re doing something, and you can see it, and then the song comes on and they’re doing something else but you can’t hear them speak and it’s in slow motion, and then they eat a human and a ginger vampire jumps out of a tree………or something like that.
Also, they made a new video for their song “Holiday” that features the band caught on candid camera on a day off as they go chill for a day, so check it out and see what they’re like when they think nobody’s watching them.
Mumford & Sons have been a round for a couple of years now, playing gigs in and around London along with buddies of the same scene like Johnny Flynn and Noah And The Whale, but they’ve only just (October 2009) released their debut album “Sigh No More”. Polarising critics (some saying their music is awful, some (most) saying it’s excellent) they’ve made an album that’s passionate and catchy, melodious and stomping, but most of all enjoyable.
I think I’m on an Indie-Folk kick lately as most of the bands I’m featuring seem to be in that kind of genre, but what the hell, the music’s awesome and that’s all that matters.
Below you can hear “White Blank Page” that they did for WOXY, “After The Storm“, single “The Cave”, as well as a top notch cover of “Cousins” by Vampire Weekend. Also are performances of “Timshel”, beautifully shot for Le-Hiboo and their official video for “Winter Winds”.
Vampire Weekend have released the new (and much talked about) video for “Giving Up The Gun”. It features the band with RZA, a Jonas Brother, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Lil’ Jon.
The end of the video has RZA grabbing his ghetto blaster and playing (faintly) “Holiday”, the third track on “Contra”. Maybe that’s a hint that “Holiday” will be the next single?
