Listen Before You Buy

Los Angeles-based 3 1/2 specialize in lo-fi, off-the-wall, psychedelically experimental, rootsy indie pop that could be placed somewhere in between Pocahaunted and Best Coast (with a dash of other L.A. hellcats, Hecuba, just for that prog-pop feel).

Jagwar Ma’s “Come Save Me” has a feel of Kasabian or Death In Vegas, which I guess equates to old-school psychedelia filtered through a big beat/rave-inspired ’90s-Manchester rock lens. Elsewhere, he sounds like The Orb. It’s all very good.

Architecture, a three – piece band based in Chicago, specialize in crafting an organic-electronic sound that merges ’60s girl-group stylings with an ambient mixture of dream pop.
