Now I know what you’re thinking when you read that title, you’re thinking “Oh that’s cool, one of my favourite new Indie-Electronic-80′s-Stylin’ bands are covering the 1995 classic of the same name by Britpoppers Cast!“, to which I say “No”.
I never played Four Square as a kid, I guess it’s a North American/Non-Scottish thing, but it seems like a more contained and far-more-likely-to-be-hit-by-a-ball-than-dodgeball kinda game, which is nice because I enjoy being hit by balls. The Pass released a stellar album last year to not enough fanfare, but it was filled to the brim with Indie-Dancehall anthems, confetti-filled fireworks, and meteoric nostalgia.
The video below was shot (again) by the always-bearded, usually-drunk, and rarely-vitriolic Zach from We Listen For You. It’s based on the playground game of Four Square, not the social networking game, BUT, watching the video it could be tied into the social networking game too. What starts off as something fun between friends turns into something a bit more violent as each player does their best to win, which is relevant to the social networking game as people get so hung up on becoming mayor and unlocking badges and being better than their friends that they lose sight of the most important part.
