When your album ends up on LBYB’s top 31 albums of the year list, it changes a person. Perfume Genius‘ album dropped in at number 11 and I just hope that he’s doing alright with the new-found fame and attention that kind of acclaim brings to an artist.
His debut album is immense and earth-shattering, in the same way that Sleigh Bells‘ album is, but both at completely opposite sides of the musical rainbow (I like Rainbows…..does the word Rainbow get capitalised?). For Yours Truly a couple of months back (but only now seeing the light of day) he played a new song “Dreeem” that wasn’t on the intial run of his album, but showed up on the special edition released not long ago.
The performance is short but touching, especially when you see the expression on his face as he sings each refrain and blinks with each note.
